I've got a question for all you knowledgable folks out there- I am after a Winchester 94 and was curious what the quality is like on the 90s production guns made in New Haven. I am looking for either a Miroku, or a pre-64 based on my limited knowledge- but was curious how the ones made in the 90s stack up. Are they as good as the pre-64 or Miroku made models? Thanks.

You know Tom, sometimes overthinking these purchases are the worst thing going.
There was a time when Remington and Marlins had issues and eventually the manufacturing end sorted it out before the guns went to market and the one that made it into the wild went to a warranty depot.
Winchester has always been a good name and the Model 94 has a long history of putting venison on the table.
Finding the one you like is going to be the best part.
Have you seen the Legacy ???
Thats a sweet looking smoke poll.
I am sure others will have a much different opinion than me, but thats what makes CGN and Canada Great.
Good Hunting,
Rob

I was given a New Haven 44 Mag, I'd say it is a decent gun other than the crossbolt safety. Not as nice as a pre 64 but definately nicer than the 70's and 80's vintage guns I've seen.

I'd advise getting a decent pre 64, you could get both a 30WCF and a 32 Special and have money left over compared to the Miruku.

I have one made in 1989 pre crossbolt safety. Angle eject model. I shot my first deer with it. Excellent carbine which started me loving lever actions. Fit and finish was excellent, showing signs of use now. I do like the older pre 64's but think the earlier ones pre WW1 are very interesting especially if in 38-55. First rifle I bought 94 AE in 30-30. Find one you like and buy it. If you find you like them be worned they multiply.

Yeah after doing some more reading I think I'm after a pre-war 94. Found a nice one with a hefty price tag, hopefully can work out a deal on it- 1905 in fantastic condition.
