Winchester 94/22 Magnum light firing pin strikes, common issue?

I'm guessing, but I think it may be a coil similar to the late 94 rifles. I had problems with a Browning BPR in 22 WMR, using CCI ammo. I found the rims too tough for a light strike. Switched to Federals and no problems.

A friend has a 94/22 Magnum that light strikes, is this a common issue? What's the spring in there, a leaf or a coil? Curious if this is a common issue, and if there's a standard fix.

I've never had any similar issues with any of my 94/22 mags. They are coil springed, and in my experience have never had anything but a very positive strike on all ammo I've used. (IMO, the best performing ammo in my 94/22's is Winchester).
The only similar situation I read about was FTF as a result of the action being left open for extended periods, (I recall something to the effect of cable lock use) and the springs left in compression for way more than they should have. Light strikes were a pretty obvious result, expecially if the springs were not quite as well hardened as they should have been.
The article mentioned a spring change as all that was required to resolve the problem.
