Winchester 94 30-30 looking for advice

I hear that bill! One of my first guns an entry level .308 I wanted to set up as a beginner prs I still remember the excitement sourcing the couple components ( scope brake bipod and chassis) and after it was all done it was a bit anticlimactic lol sold it a month later lol

I have 4 1894’s ranging from 1907 through the early 70’s.
The older ones have virtually no finish left on them and I personally like them that way.
They have all been used hard and all of them function just fine. They are as accurate as i am on any given day.
If i had to pick “just one” i would have no issue with the 30-30.
Grab one and have fun. Don’t obsess about the year it was built.

Thanks scotty! Ya I get you, this one isn’t the holy grail but a big want for my collection not a need, so I think I will definitely have fun with it !

Main reason to avoid 32-40 is ammo availability, brass scarcity, reloading quirks. As a 100yd deer round, loaded correctly, it’s fine. Same for 38-55.

30-30 is definitely the best choice for most people.

32ws is fine, but harder to get ammo and 30-30.
