On another thread someone mentions the old Gun Runner. Got me thinking, I remember someone advertising a Winchester 94 (or was it a 92?) in 45ACP. Anyone ever heard of such a beast?

As I think more about it, I think it was supposed to be marked Sante Fe Police or something like that.

I've handled and shot a couple of the Winchester model 92's made for Argentinian police service. Funky little carbines that performed decently out to around 80 yds. or so. Real fun to shoot.

It was the M1892, they were called "El Tigre" and had a reputation for feeding issues. There are a couple US gun smiths/companies who offer to convert a 94 Marlin, which includes shortening the receiver and everything...you'd have to deliver the gun and give them around 2500 USD , and voila, you have a dependable lever action in 45acp.
I toyed around with that idea for a while too...but if it's not shyte,it's expensive.

While having one would be cool form a collectors standpoint, I couldn't imagine getting one converted when there is already 45 COlt, 44 Mag and 357 options avilable- that function perfectly
