Looking for some info. I'm possibly buying a Winchester model 94 in 30-30 from a family member. It is a pre 64 model (Specifically from 1954). I've been looking into trying to find a m-lok fore end/rail system and a skeletonized butt stock. From the ones that I've seen they say post 64 model only. From some of the youtube videos that I've found the differences seem to be within the receiver of the rifle rather than the stock or for end. Can anyone shed some light on this at all for me? I don't want to purchase the rifle and accessories and gamble on if things will work/fit. Any info is greatly appreciated. I understand alot of people would rather keep something like this antique and original but I just love the look of the updated and tactical looking lever action rifles.

Thanks,
Ian

Even amongst the pre-'64's, there are differences between the early rifles and later ones that prevent the stocks from interchanging. You couldn't take a stock from a 1920's rifle and make it fit a 1950's model, and vice versa. If the manufacturer says post '64 only, that's probably accurate.

I get that it's your rifle and all that, but "tactifying" a classic pre '64 M94 is sacrilegious.

contrary to what was said pre 64 stocks from any year will fit on a pre 64 1920-1964
post 64 guns have different hammer spring systems so the inletting is difference
just buy a post 64 gun
or leave them as they were and buy a junk clone already uglyized

You need parts that are specifically pre-64, and don’t do anything that isn’t reversible. The market for molested 94s is not a sellers one.

I am currently fixing up a 1926 M94. I had a look at a few different years to figure out what parts would fit. I ended up finding parts for a 1938 that fit perfectly. Front band and the butt stock were my two biggest concerns. The butt I found had well worn finish but in excellent condition otherwise. They changed stuff through the years so parts aren’t always compatible. An original rear site for it is in the plans.
