Did anybody see any of these "new" in Canada with the round barrel just before Winchester went under?

Yes, leBaron in Ottawa had, IIRC, a .25-35 and a .38-55 Trail's End Hunter.

I bought one about 4 years ago from LeBaron Mississauga on their Boxing day sale, the only one in stock back then. Shot 3 rounds through it and sold it off to another Gunnutter who was very happy to have it. Fit and finish was decent if I recall.
