And this is what I found

This is the first time I've run into ammo like this by any manufacturer. It really surprised me, but in all fairness to Winchester they don't have any control of how their ammo is stored or handled after it leaves their factory, so I really have no quarrel with them concerning the condition of this particular ammo.
However, I do hold them responsible for the very inconsistent seating depth shown in the pic below. All previous Winchester ammo I've bought over the years has always been consistent.
Is this common? Or is it just a case of a bad run of ammo?

i have spent a lot of time in an ammo factory. the final step before packaging is a visual inspection that pulls out dented and defective ammo like this. It goes into a pallet and is supposed to be destroyed. Every once in awhile the pallet goes to the wrong place and gets packaged. It looks to me like you got a box of ammo that was all culls.

Winchester would want to hear the lot # on the box flap.

All the winchester center fire ammo I have seen loos the same as that. After what I have on hand is gone there will be no more buying any. I already wont buy their rimfire ammo

Brutal, something is very wrong with the seating depth there. Myself, I have never seen a bad batch like that but have had little luck with Winchester white box ammo shooting well in most of my rifles.

Winchester ammo is crap.

I, sadly, have about 8 boxes of 223 white box stuff where the neck on the brass splits on the first firing from the factory.

The brass always seems to oxidize so fast too.

Crap. Pure crap

The oxidizing spots are due to storage in a moist place. the ammo may be very old stock also. and i think it may be that the seating depth differences may be caused by a difference in the brass length. I have found many different length brass in Remington and other brass manufactured too. I have never had a problem with Winchester rimfire ammo and settled on using only 333/555 ammo. about 15,000 rounds a year and not a handful of FTFs. Some other brands i would not run thru my guns.

The phone number is 705-749-0622 Winchester Canada

Thanks for that.
Update: After contacting Winchester I received a very speedy response. They offered to pay to have the ammo shipped to them for replacement. They were also quite accommodating and pleasant to deal with, so I certainly can't complain about their service.

Winchester doesn't give one hoot about your box of bad ammo. I have contacted them at any addresses I could about some 12 ga shells I bought. They are filled with what is best described as welding slag for steel shot. Never heard a thing back from ANY area of Winchester. I even went so far as to talk to the local dealer I get great service with. They were shocked when I showed them what is in the shells. They were not surprised at all at the lack of response from Winchester.

Just because the box says made in USA, doesnt mean the ammo is...
looks to me like quality control is missing. anyone would pick those different seating depths out in a split second, even with foggy or dirty safety glasses.
