Hi all,

Well, maybe its cause its a new gun, or maybe cause I didn't really pay attention, but when turkey hunting today, I noticed my choke tube says 'lead only'

I have purchased two kinds of turkey ammo, both Winchester, one box of supreme high velocity turkey loads (3.5", #5) and one box of Supreme Elite Xtended Range hi density loads (3.5", #5). Neither box says whether the shot is lead or steel.

I think that the Xtended range ones are a combination of iron and tungsten, but I have no idea what the regular supreme high velocitys are made of.

Are these loads safe to shoot in a 'lead only' choke or will I be damaging it by doing so.

Thanks,

PS. I opened up one of the 'regular' shot shells and I was able to dent the shot pretty easily, I read somewhere that this means its just like lead and can be fired fine.

BTW, I didnt end up getting a turkey today :(

Don't rightly know. This web site says "buffered copper plate" (which appears to be copper plated lead).
