Yesterday's box and ammo was different but insisted it was the same.

And the brass isn't clean

I would rather pay a bit more and get a black box, foam bullet holder and shiny brass than a stingy white box and dirty brass

Dr Google said the numbers are the same

Does anyone on here know what's going on

I hope I get the photos right and you can see them?
not sure if they sell the LGS in Canadia or if its a rip Aussie sales pitch.. as pics show they are factory laoded with Woodleigh... 99.9% of the time in Shiney WIN stamped brass..... as above, this #### is not and I rekon the Gun store has reloaded Woodleighs into #### cases with Winchester? powder to factory OAL, an velocity?? atleas COAL

You're thoughts please Gentlremen gurus!

I have to agree looks like reloaded military brass? The nato cross sealed the deal. The case looks to be "annealed" too. Seems like you bought reman'd ammo?

I'm guessing that someone took some military surplus nato 7.62 ammo, pulled the 150 gr FMJ bullets, jigged the powder weight and or type, and added some 180 gr hunting bullets. The bullets don't look like Winchester spire points... The actual load formulation (powder type and charge) of the Win factory ammo would be proprietary - so it would be difficult to replicate exactly.
Depending on the cost, I wouldn't hesitate to try out the reloaded stuff for groups - the Winchester factory stuff aint no great shakes. On a related note, many reloaders buy cheap surplus and do exactly the same thing to get decent hunting or target ammo (aka Mexican match). Can you do this in Australia?

I think you will find that this is probably new white-box Winchester ammo contract made by ADI/Thales Australia for Winchester using ADI/Thales military grade brass cases with a correct military ammo primer crimp and excessive primer sealant and local sourced Woodleigh bullets.

They probably only just tooled over to make this ammo for the civilian market there and have some teething and quality control problems.

Ammo probably shoots well although.

Winchester/Olin Australia stopped making centrefire rifle ammo many years ago and were only making rimfire and shotgun ammo.

I guess they have just recently started production of 7.62x51/.308 Win sporting ammo on contract for Winchester in Australia as they (ADI/Thales) are not selling much 7.62x51mm ammo to the Aussie army nowadays.

I agree, the bullets are definitely Woodleigh PP's. So the projectiles are good quality, can't vouch for the rest of it.

very interesting, thanks!

ill be sure to pass that on, in fact I already have :)

cheers mate

No worries Cobber,

Let me know what you find out, I have a very good friend who is a retired Australian Army Lt. Col ATO (Ammunition Technical Officer) who used to also be a high level Executive with ADI/Thales (now retired from them as well) when he retired from the Australian army. I still talk regularly online with him, he is currently in Europe but probably still has contacts who could give him and me the info needed to confirm my above suspicion on this ammo's origin.
