Can anyone tell me if a 1300 barrel will work on a 120 ranger reciever. I was given one and would like to know so I don't blow my fingers off, actually I generally get a friend to fire a gun I am unsure of first. With friends like me, who needs enemys.

I can't always follow their numbering system, but as long as they're both pump barrels and pump actions, they're interchangeable. Just note what the barrel says w.r.t. chamber length, either 2-3/4" or 3" and stick to that for each barrel.

Thanks Grouse Man, now do you know if barrels from a Mossberg 500 will fit the Lakefield Mossberg 400G? There is next to no info on the Net about these.

Whoa there, I will be the first to admit that I have no idea whether a 1300 barrel will work on a 120 Ranger receiver, but the comment of "as long as they're both pump barrels and pump actions" certainly aint accuarate and following it could be deadly.

To clarify, I assumed he's not talking about different brands nor about different designs (e.g. Model 12). Winchester used a ton of different model numbers on their most recent alloy-bodied pump gun - 1200, 2200, 1300, 120, 130 - depending on country and whether economy/deluxe. They also made guns for Sears, IIRC, and God knows what model numbers are on them. But these are the only Winchesters with the rotating bolt lockup in the barrel extension.

But your point is taken, I should have been more clear at the start.

Is there any other issue w.r.t. this that may still be unaddressed?

Nope that about covers it. It is a 120 Ranger, which I figure is the number they put on the Ranger to differentiate it from the more expensive 1200's. It does have the rotating bolt face so it should work.
Thanks again
