Hi:

I have had this box around for years and cannot remember what came in it.:(
It is 35 inches long and has an 1866/1966 seal on it.

Any help appreciated:D

That appears to be a shotgun box. Perhaps one that was produced during Winchester's centennial year which was 1966 (hence the 1866-1966 sticker)

Maybe a 101?

Likely it could have been a commemorative Model 1894 in honour of The "Improved Henry" or Model 1866 Yellow Boy. They made commemorative '94's for just about anything. In fact, I'd say a non-commemorative Model '94 is harder to find. :stirthepot2:

The model and cal should be on the end of box !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now Ed why didn't I think of that?!?!?!?!
Paul: I have the Bud Haynes catalogue for Aug 23 2008 and there are 3 boxes like yours there.
Lot A-23 Win 94 Canadian Cent. Comm. 30-30 Rifle 26" barrel. Gun sold for $550
Lot A-24 Win 94 Canadian Cent. Comm. 30-30 carbine 20" barrel Gun sold $500
Lot A-36 Win 94 Illinois Sesquicentennial Conn 30-30 Carbine 20" Gun sold for $600
Seems there was more than 1 type of gun in the box

A 35" box like the one in the photo is a "standard" size for a take down shotgun.

Could be a Model 37 single shot, Model 1200 pump, Model 1400 auto-loader, Model 101
O/U etc., etc.

The Winchester plaid also showed up on the liner flannel of sleeping bags and inside
guncases.
