I have noticed that a lot of memebers prefer Winchester brass and state that it is stronger and has more capacity then the Remington brass. Does that mean Winchester brass is thicker or just a better quality metal. If it is thicker shouldn't it have less capacity? Generally speaking a max load for Remington brass should be just under a max load for Winchester brass as the Winchester brass has more capacity correct?

Winchester brass generally weighs less than Remington brass which means that it will have a greater internal capacity than Remington. With smokeless powder this translates to slightly lower pressures (Not trying to be patronizing). I use Winchester for a lot of my smokeless reloading (my 308, 30-06 and 300 WM and my smokeless 45-70 for sure but I can't remember about the 25-06 and 458). I use Norma for my 416 Rigby, Lapua for my 9.3x62 and Remington for my blackpowder 45-70. I use the Remington for BP 45-70 loads because pressure isn't an issue and I don't necessarily want the extra capacity.

I agree with Stubblejumper that the newer 'Red bag" Winchester brass can be crap with split necks and major dents.

The older Blue bag and white box offering on the other hand were as good as any and better than some.
I'm glad to hear your comment on the noted blue bag. I have 3, never opened blue bags of Winchester, for the 6mm Remington.

Winchester brass is decent but I think the best thing going for it is cheap. I stick with lapua or Peterson
