Having a problem here because the bullets are semi-jacketed. When I put them in the press the soft lead gets crushed, A- is it because my dies are cheap or B- I am not opening the case as much? or is there something that I missed?
 
Don't worry about it too much. The point doesn't matter. However, if you're using a WC seater plug with an RN, change the seater plug. Most dies sets come with both.
 
You'll find that...the softer the lead, the closer you will have to match the nose shape with your seater. It's the same problem with sizing soft cast bullets.
 
I know that my Dillon dies can be taken apart and you turn the bullet seater around to make it match the shape of your bullet. Do your dies have this feature? if so, turn the inner part of your die around and it will not crush the hollow point.
