Hey all! I was wondering if anybody here could tell me about this gun. On the day after Christmas, my wife and I went to go visit her grand parents. Me and her grandfather were talking guns when he went to the bedroom, when he came back he had with him a Winchester levergun. He said he got it as payment for work he did in the late 60's, it's unfired and he even has the original box for it. On the top of the receiver it reads: Winchester centennial 1866-1966. It's chambered in 30-30. I was wondering if anyone knows the value and rarity of such a gun, he may want to sell it and I want to make sure that if he sells it he gets a fair price for it. I may buy it, but I know nothing about lever guns, I collect and shoot milsurps mostly. Any info would be great.

It may be unfired; but it has had the "seal" removed, so the action has been cycled. And believe it or not, the condition of the box also plays a part in the value.

I would say $550 would be more realistic. There are alot of special, centennial, anniversary editions through the years. Each with runs of 10000 plus one.

My estimate was given based on everything being mint, given the OP has not stated otherwise.

And yes, the original box & any accompanying paperwork can play a major role in the value of the gun.

(and I also said "depending on condition", which would include the box & manuals/etc...)

This is from a US collectors site. value here probably between $600-750
