Hi
I have been asked by a family member to get some appraisal on some Winchester lever action rifles. Does anyone know of any Publications on these things or a running value list somewhere? I have a NRA Blue Book however I don't know that these Canadian versions will be in there. I know none have been fired, two have never had there actions broken "cocked". A couple still have original boxes. A couple Canadian Centennial's, carbine and rifle. John Wayne commemorative 32-40, Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee 38-55. Etc....

I know these aren't uncommon. I see some pop up on the EE in the Hunting Rifles section. They seem to range from the $1000 to mid $2000's. I'm sure it's model, condition and serial number specific.

Any experience out there? Also these are not for sale.
Thanks

There are many variations of the Dukes Commemorates from $800 to 20K...
I have seen a Sask Jubilee go for $800 after the one of lesser quality sold for $1100.00 at an local auction.
Blue Book of Gun Values is a good place to start and yes, the Canadian ones will be in there too.

your descriptions of "some have this some are this and some don't" isn't much help in the Winchester Commemorative game. there are so many variations in condition to those guns that are very important to a collector in the game...and those variations can vary a guns value by thousands ( weather that Sask. Diamond Jubilee actually has the diamond front sight or not is a good example).

Individually list every rifle model and EVERY characteristic (ser #, fired or unfired, cocking marks, box condition, even sleeve condition) about it and guaranteed you will get a well thought out appraisal from someone on the board.
I watched fist fight that was over a commemorative box at an outdoors gun auction (very early Bud Haynes auction when they were first held off an old outdoor loading dock in the riverfront industrial park). One ol' cowboy bought a new Commemorative in the box to hunt with and promptly threw the slide in the mud at his feet...two budding collectors dove for that sleeve before it got trampled and the fight was on....
