Winchester choke tube thread size?

I have been thinking about cutting down my barrel and inserting a removable tube. Has anyone on the forum done this? I would like the details of the thread specs and depth for a standard winchester choke. I suppose I could use anyones tubes, Does anyone have preference one way or an other.


PS I work in a Tool and Die shop so I have access to lots of machinery

Win-Choke-style: .812"-32 tpi (12 ga.) or .687"-32 (20 ga.)

Depending on the available thickess of the barrel you might have to go with something like the Tru-Choke Thinwall style: 12 ga.: .774"-44 tpi

The outside barrel diameter should be no less than .845 for Win chokes. I think it would be easier to get it done with someone that has the reamer and tap. Whether it is a Win Choke or Rem choke I install I recommend the extended choke tubes. The constriction in the choke is outside of the barrel, so if there was any problem in the choke it would not damage the barrel.
