Maybe this topic has been covered several times bore, but am I missing something? EE prices are astronomical!! Are these commemoratives that collectible ?

I think the DU commemoratives a kind of lost their value and collectability according to some sources...

I think it’s funny that now people want a fortune for them where at one time people wanted nothing to do with them.Today though every used gun out there seems to be worth a fortune for the most part

Only have one commemorative, a "legendary lawman" in 30-30

It was the trapper length barrel and saddle ring that sold me on it, the fact that it was "special" meant nothing to me, and still doesn't

Most of the Winchester Commemorative 30-30s are built on Post 64 parts, owner's often thinking that they're a real collectors piece and not shooters. Personally, I find them gaudy and a waste of money. Others often don't share my sentiments and grab them wherever they're found. I've had several and have never kept a one.

Another thing is that it seems that a lot of of people don t know what makes a collectible a collectible as far as price goes. For example even if they were the collectible they think they are once they have been shot or have marks or any sort wear the collector value drops like a lead ballon.Same goes for a missing box or paperwork.I always thought of them as collector guns for people who didn’t know what collecting fine guns was all about or at best poor man’s collectibles

I am shocked at the price of all lever actions, but if people are willing to pay those prices, hey will keep climbing. I saw a used 9422 laminate listed recently, and it was double the price of five years ago.

The Winchester 94/22 is a great little gun but I agree the asking price of some of the used ones border on the ridiculous.I like to see Ruger-Marlin bring back the model 39 I believe they would have a hard time keeping them in stock

I'm in the same boat. I WANT a Win94, but the prices on them have gone crazy in the last 5 years or so. Even the ones in 32Special are pushing $1k+.

As for the OPs question, I would buy one of the commemorative ones, but not at a premium.

I sold 11 of the commemorative Winchesters for a good freind’s wife after he passed. This was about 7 years ago now. He had all different ones and had all the boxes and manuals. Even some Winchester commemorative ammo too. They were a bit gaudy for my liking. But I had no problems selling them. They are in demand. Fit and finish were not what I’d call collector grade. Let’s face it, these were made at a time when quality control were not very important to Winchester. Personally, I would probably not fire one if I owned one. But I have seen them being used at the range.
