I bought a Cooey/Winchester 600 today.

Really nice rifle, just one thing though. The gun rocks back and forth in the receiver. Not side to side, but end to end it rocks.

Can these rifles be bedded or is there something simple that I can do to hold it firm in the stock (ie pressure pad). A pressure pad doesn't seem feasible since the tube for the tube magazine is what would be contacting the pressure pad, and it needs to move freely without pressure put on it. There are moving parts behind the lug also, so if anything was to be bedded it would only be the lug area I would guess.

I really like this gun, and would really like to eliminate this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I fixed up one that had the same problem, the cause was the hole through the stock that the bedding bolt(for lack of a better name) passes through was worn too big for the bolt, but the problem with mine was everything could move back and forth almost a quarter inch, not so much a rocking. I took a couple of washers that were the correct size for the bolt and inlet them into the inside bottom of the stock, put a little acra-glas over them to keep them there, and tightened everything up. it seems to be working so far.
