Anybody try out any of this new product from Winchester? I'm liking the theory behind this White-tail Deer bullet ammo. I just got some for my '06 and was wondering if anyone range tested it and chronographed it yet?

I'm liking the bullet profile being very pointed with a large diameter poly tip to initiated expansion instantly on Deer sized game yet maintaining a traditional flat base design which works perfect out to 350-ish anyway compared to B.T's.

Winchester regular silver box in 150PSP always was deadly accurate in my Remington 7400 as far as the rifles inherent ability goes, and if the new poly tipped Deer Season XP stuff is just as accurate, I thinking it will make a better bang-flop round for my neck of the woods on White tail.

Price is comparable to the older standard grade ammo albeit with the new ammo pricing which is up 10 percent or more across the board.

I also like the idea of ammo makers starting to pull back from the never ending rise on bullet advancements and the associated pricing on premium bullets for small bodied game, putting a new idea into a economy package. Hopefully it lives up to it's promise.

First I heard today as well at one of my local shops. If it works as designed, it will hit the nail on the head for my 270,7mmMag, '06, .308etc, all that only take whitetail exclusively. I didn't get too caught up in all the 3 dollar per round ammo for the lowly whitetail killed by me from 23 to 147 yards, with 75yards or less the norm and the price point seems good.

It would seem the hard polymer tip may work well in an M-14 of mine, should I give it a try over iron sights for a change up.

I'm bumping this Deer Season XP again because not much input on it so far.

I knows it the middle of summer and a lot of big game rifles never see the light of day and hunters have other things on their minds, but it's sparked my interest, because I like cheap ammo that works very well.

This is not the old fail safe XP3 ammo premium and expensive Winchester ammo with it's shiny nickel cases, it's a new brass cased product just released made in economical Super X type boxes.

They are flat based, high Ballistic Coefficient, with large polymer tipped bullets, much like the old .303British Mark VII ball round 174gr FMJ look to them. They may become a new Deer standard for me in the '06 at least if they shoot anything like the old Super-X 150psp.

I'll put them through their paces in the accuracy department in my test rifle(Rem7400) but my chronograph is shattered and I'd like to see a range report on them in the velocity department. Reason being is I feel Winchester usually trades of claimed velocities at times for accuracy, and this is not a bad reason at all. Would be nice for once to get claimed velocities and accuracy in one package much like worked up hand-loads, though I may be wishing for too much.

I paid $26.99 for the "new stock" grey box .30-06 ammo I mentioned. The older stock .30-06 150gr SuperX is still only $23.99 here. The .30-30 grey box Rascal mentioned is only $18.99 at one store here, I payed $19.99 each for two boxes each just recently.

Like old CIL saber tip! They killed all I ever shot at. For deer just about anything will work. They are not hard to kill. Mind you if you shoot them in the guts, a howitzer is needed. Place your shots, if you can't make a clear & clean shot pass.

If this ammo is made for the average Joe that needs to be told what bullet to use for hunting deer, and we all know that the average Joe won't be shooting deer very far what does he need a high bc bullet for? The average Joe buys whatever is cheapest anyways.

I wonder how this stuff compares to Hornady's American White Tail which uses the traditional interlock bullet.

Reviews of this bullet say it comes apart really quickly which can be a downside if you're stuck picking bits of jacket and core out of your burgers.

These days, for hunting, I stick to Winchester Ballistic Silver Tips. Sounds like the same medicine in a different bottle. $30 for 20 at wallymart.
