Bought this ammo only because it was among just 3 kinds of 22LR available in local Canadian Tire (and currently there is almost no 22LR ammo in local funstores).

I bought two kinds of Winchester ammo, and today I could test it with my pistol (S&W 22a-1 deluxe). I was shooting @ 10 or 11 yards off hands.

First one I tested was XPert HV, and it was one of the crappiest kinds of ammo I've ever tried. Very inaccurate (2.5 - 3 inch groups) and unrelianle (8 or 9 duds out of 100 shots). Naturally, I was quite disappointed - I bought a brick of this ammo, fortunately just one.

Then I shot 100 rounds of CCI MiniMags, just to make sure my gun was OK, and it was actually OK - no misfires, much better groups.

At last, I decided to try another kind of Winchester ammo I bought - Target Dynapoint GT, not expecting any good results. Surprisingly, it was on par with MiniMags, or even better!
It shoots exactly the point where I aim, and it looked like every single flier was entierly my fault. And not a single dud!

I was able to produce quarter sized 10 shot group (actually 9 shots could be covered with quarter and 1 was a flier). Other groups were on par with MiniMags an much much better than XPert HV.

Besides being good, it's also cheaper than MiniMags (I bought 500 bulk pack for $31, thats about same price as American Eagle HP). Fortunately, I bought 3x500 of this ammo. Surely I'll buy more in the future, and I recommend it to everyone!

Thanks, hometownhero
did you try this particular ammo in your gun?

I know that most of Winchester ammo is mediocre at best, but this one stands out. For me CCI was (and is) always the best, but this Dynapoint GT surprised me a lot.

Yes. Dynapoint, dynapoint gt, supers, xpert, target and whatever other ammo winchester sells for 22lr and 17hmr. I did like the 333/555 they we not very accurate but when they did go where you wanted they did wonderful on critters with that huge hollow point. The price is no longer feasible for the mediocre accuracy though.

I have a Savage BTVS, I tried 8+ different ammo types. Mini mag and dynapoint grouped the same, but was half the cost. I didn't try match grade ammo. Only shooting gophers so they aren't picky. HP is a big Bonus!
I'm having luck with M-22 but it's not HP. Other than that, there is much good ammo out.
I'm happy I bought 10,000 rounds from No Sale sports two years ago for just under $400!!!!
I'm happy you found dynapoint. It's $31.99 in Calgary/Area CT, $26.99 for Walmart dynapoint.
CT was $24.99 about a year ago! GURRRRR

I've found Winchester dynapoint and powerpoint to be very accurate in all of my guns. They do make some junk though. The last box of 333's that I bought wouldn't even eject out of my sako.

Been using Win 555 bulk for a couple of years, works just great for gophers. Has a larger hp than the Black box Dynas. Still have a bulk pack of the dyna point in the locker. Never used it so can't comment on performance.

I have a variety of Winchester ammo including the Dynapoint GT, although the Xpert HV are the only ones I have fired so far since I'm really new, DVC only allows non-jacketed ammo and the Xpert HV are the only bulk of this type I could find, and I haven't gone shooting outdoors yet.

Had numerous FTE, and about 1/100 duds with the Xpert HV. Hoping to have a chance to get to the Dynapoint GT soon, but I have a few plastic boxes of Super-X to get through first...

DVC only allows non-jacketed ammo

they allow any ammo, as long as
- it's not a centerfire rifle caliber, AND
- it has no steel in a bullet or shot (jacket, core, or shot in case of shotgun ammo)

Think logically - how would people shoot centerfire calibers in that range if they would be not allowed to use jacketed ammo, and all factory made ammo in those calibers I've ever seen are jacketed.

I bought a bulk pack of Dynapoint GT this week. It was fairly accurate within my MKII. I had my first fail to fire since buying the rifle which is to be expected with bulk ammo. I did have extraction issues with this ammunition. I shot SK and CCI before and after these rounds with no issue.

Maybe there is a slight dimensional different with the rims?

Best mix of $$ and accuracy I have found is definitely CCI Standard Velocity.

If you haven't tried it, you really should!

For plinking I have the cheap stuff, but when I am trying to concentrate on shooting groups, the CCI SV is the only option IMHO.

+1 my goto ammo for my 22's have not found better yet.. but hard to get :(

Same experience here. CCI Std velocity for accuracy and consistency in any gun.
Dynapoints depend on the gun.
Dynapoints actually group better than the CCI Std Velocity in my CZ 452.

I don't remember the $12/ brick days, but bought lots of Dynapoint 2-3 years ago when it was $17/brick at Walmart
