Did they ever make this Winchester 308 win in a lever with
an exsposed hammer?
I was asked this today and for the goodness gracious of me
couldn't come up with a model one.
They never made an 1894 in this chambering?
I am thinking maybe the conversation was interpeted wrong?

Nope. The .307 Winchester was close to .308 Win specs in the 94. Its performance is really more like the .300 Savage.
And Marlin makes a similar cartridge in the .336, the .308 MX (Marlin Express) which is the .307 Win with the shoulder pushed back .100" to allow use of the Leverevolution pointy bullet.
Winchester's only .308 Winchester lever gun was the 88, which as you know is hammerless.

I suppose someone could have assumed a Browning BLR was a Winchester, if someone told him it was "a .308 Winchester", as we've seen with a few Savage rifles.
