Winchester long action whyatts magazine box?

Has anybody completed this transition in their Winchester model 70 to change the box length from 3.4" to 3.8"?

If so did you mill the action yourself or send it away?


Just bought a 264 win mag and want to shoot heavy 160 grain bullets without giving up case capacity

I've done it. No milling required, just some very careful filing in order to square up the radii at the rear of the action rails. Then all you need to do is mark and file the ejector in order that the rounds on the left of the magazine can ride up to be caught by the bolt. Trial and error and small adjustments until the case has just a hair of clearance when it's up at it's maximum height. I did this when I long mag'd my 300 WM to shoot heavy bullets. Only took a few hours.
