Well I found a donor spring for my MOA trigger in a ball point pen. I remove the original spring and started testing; first try got the trigger down to 2.8 pounds so I went at it again. I took one more coil off and retried. The spring was then too short with the adjustment screw removed; the sear would not return properly so I spun in the adjustment spring till the sear made contact again. I tested the trigger again and basically as low as I could get was 2.5#. I haven't fired any rounds from it yet but will do so soon. Did the bang test with buttstock to floor "pogo-ing" with no ill effect.

So far it is worth the effort; sacrificed a pen instead of a $175 trigger replacement.

I will post my thoughts when bullets have flown.

you can do a rifle basix trigger for the model 70 for well under $175, mind you the ball point pen solution is pretty cheap if the spring will continue to hold it's tension. sometimes ingenuity and a little patience pays big rewards
 
Suspect you'll find a pen spring is far too light. So is 2.5 pounds on a hunting rifle. However, springs do not lose temper from being used. Spring are relatively easy to find though. You should be able to find packs of 'em in most hardware stores.
