winchester m70 with detachable clip

I've done this.... what do you need to know ?

Parts for DM ?

Stock ? Inletting for the DM trigger ass'y ?

I was lucky that the stock allowed me to carry out further inletting and maintain the same screw (action screws) length. I saw my buddy convert a DBM M70 into a regular bottom metal M70. The swap was dead easy.

Being a fool later on, I sold it to this friend. Bummer.

Cheers,
Barney

Chris: Many years ago, I bought a M70 DBM in .22-250 which I had rebarreled to a .308 sniper rig. Then I kept the original tupperware factory synthetic stock unaltered.

I bought a Bell and Carlson Winchester SA graphite and kevlar stock. I inletted the front end for the new heavy barrel. Remember all the while I've got the DBM 2 screw bottom metal magazine / floorplate assembly. It needed to be inletted to fit the new Bell & Carlson stock which I proceeded to inlet (about 2 hours work and then final glass bedding). :p

I sold the rig after the 2000 CFSAC matches so that I moved into another Remmy M700 VS. My friend made me an offer on the M70 that I could not refuse. Well, he changed the stock into a more tactical "A & N Synthetic" stock and dropped the DBM capability. He bought / ordered the standard 2 piece bottom metal for the Winchester M70 from a gunsmith. The chageover was a simple swap. Then he sold the DBM parts to www.ellwoodepps.com in Orillia, ON.

Does this more detailed description help you out ?

If you cannot do the work or unfamiliar, I would simply locate a DBM Win M70 and merely swap the stocks and bottom metal. Then again, that's what I would feel comfortable doing. Not sure if this will work in your situtation. At least you know what has been done in the past.

Cheers,
Barney

Chris, get hold of Dennis Sorenson (goes by "guntech"), he's in Brentwood Bay. He will take care of you, no problems.
You from the east coast recently by any chance?

I appreciate the "plug" but I don't have an easy solution. I do not know of a commercial conversion and I don't have time to custom make a conversion. I think I am the one who told him I couldn't do it. If it was A Remington 700 it would be easy as "kits" are available for it.
