Winchester M88 info

That is a good price. Any possible problems.....should be evident. Only time I ever had problems with an 88 it was a poor cycling action that needed cleaning. I've owned about 6 of them over the years.

I assume it's in 308!

If so around here they go for about $450-5 in v good condition, so that's a decent deal, depending on scope quality>great deal!

Excellent guns with creapy triggers :)

Nice rifles at what seems to be a good price. As has been mentioned, terrible triggers and not much can be done. The other negative for me is that I tend to crawl the stock a bit, and my cheekbone catches hell from that stock shape. Otherwise they usually work well and are amazingly accurate.

I phoned the guy today, but it was already gone. Oh well, the local gunshow is only amonth and a half away anyhow. I can save up for that.
Thanks for the info,
Pat

Shoot, I can load up any post mil 99 to loads above and beyond what the 88 can handle. Been there, done that, got the coin. Plus, personally, I wouldn't let my best friend buy a winchester. Good ammo though. Les

To put it politely Les bull#### .There is no danm way a rear locking action like that can handle more pressure than the front locking lugs on the 88.I love my 1899s and 99s but they have issues.

As they were advertised a long time ago, they are a lever articulated bolt action rifle. 99's are beautiful rifles, but with the oversized chambers and wedge locking system, they aren't in the same league as a 88 when it comes to pressures.

Alright, ya got me, I just cant stand winnies. I will be man enough to admit that, Looking at the going prices down here, that is a good deal on an M88, personally, I would see if I could find a Finnwolf though. Plus that would explain why the action on my E is kind of loose, and I keep having to trim my brass. Les
