I just want to know how much could sell a winchester mod 70 super grade .458win. I think its a post 1964. I speak for a rifle in excellent+ condition less than 40 rounds fired. No scope and no modification? Thankyou for advices.

Suggest you post the serial number to establish the year of manufacture. Replace the last couple of digits with X's if you like.

It depends on the model and year of manufacture as well as what wear is on the rifle. Condition is important. Value could range a lot depending on these factors.

The serial number is G1198166. Any lead on the years of manufacture? I'm not in a hurry to sell so i can wait for offer but you can pm if you are seriously interested. Thank you

I had a post 64 Super Grade in 300Win Mag that I gave to my buddy, now living in Terrace, when I acquired a Schultz & Larsen 65DL in 308 Norma Magnum. From what I remember of it, was nicely figured wood in the butt stock and a matted finish on the top of the receiver. Also I seem to recall two different sizes of checkering with some oak leaf border. I believe the barrel was free floating as well.

This should be around 1975 vintage. Please keep in mind that Winchester had a number of minor changes on their model 70 during that period (72-73). If you can get hold of the Gun Digest, look at the 1973 issue.

During that period (73-76 at least), the 458 was only available with the Winchester 70 African listed at a higher price than the Super Grade. The African model came with a special rear sight (longer) and the front sling swivel attached to the barrel. No matter what, you should be able to get a reasonable price for it and $1000 to $1200 sounds reasonable.

I have an unfired Super Grade in 338 WM from the early 90's with CRF and would be looking for the same price range if I wanted to sell it.
