Hey guys and gals,
I have a winchester model 101 in 12g, prety sure its a feild grade if that makes a difference. My question is can I buy replacement barrels for it. I would like a set of 16g barrels for it(or 20g).
And if I can, can someone point me in the right direction where I could find them.
Thanks!

You would probably be able to buy another gun for almost the same price as getting a set of barrels and having them fitted to your gun. I'm assuming that your gun is some decades old. Those guns were all hand fitted and they just didn't make extra barrel sets in those days.

They did make some extra barrel skeet sets for the Winchester 101 but the chances of the OP finding a 20 gauge barrel just on its own are nil.

If he really wanted to shoot 20 gauge in the gun he could have the gun fitted with subgauge tubes or use the subgauge inserts from Briley et al.

Right on thanks guys!. Im just going to get another gun in the 16 & or 20. I hunt alot of upland birds. pheasant, woodcock, and grouse, witch 12g ia a little overkill imho. So..... I have to buy another gun.... :)

Nothing wrong with a new gun but you can dial down the "overkill" aspect of a 12 gauge by going to lighter loads.

I use 24gram #7.5 target loads for grouse hunting and 1-1/8 ounce #6 for pheasant. Kent used to make a 1 ounce #6 load that I liked for pheasant but they've gone to the faster heavier loads.

Maybe try Kent/Gamebore's 12ga 2-1/2" Pure Gold Game load ... 28gram (1 oz.) #6's in plastic or paper !

I use Briley tubes in my 101. Makes the gun a little heavier but it still swings very smooth.

The OP might also want to consider Briley's "Sidekck" chamber-type tubes. About 1/2 the price of "Companions" and weigh very little at all as they are only a few inches long.
Easy to tap in and out. Uses the original 12 ga. chokes (or interchangeable chokes)

I had their 3 gauge set (20, 28 & 410) and managed straight rounds with all of them. To get good breaks at Skeet, the 20's required no change, but the 28's I found I had to tighten up the chokes to the 12ga's I/Cyl. chokes and in 410 to Mod. Steel based "cheapy loads" gave a few guys all kinds of troubles with tubes or chamber inserts - which I never experienced shooting only factory "AA" target loads through them.
