Winchester model 12, lengthen chamber?

I have a model 12 in 16 bore with the standard short chamber. I would like to get the chamber lenthened to the standard 2.75 inch. Can anyone advise of a good smith?

This is not a collector gun but I would like to use it when for whatever reason I don't want to risk damaging my double.

Your old 12 is chamber 2 9/16ths for the old 16 bore cartridges. Most smiths have a reamer to lengthen the chamber to the industry standard of 2 3/4". Some 12's will require the front lower radius of the ejection port to be opened up also. George at Ellwood EPPS in Orillia will do an excellent job for you. EPPS has a web site just google Canada for "Ellwood Epps Sporting Goods" It may take a little while as every hunter in the country is dragging guns to the local gunsmith wanting it yesterday.

Thanks. For some reason I did not contact Epps. I guess I was hoping for someone in eastern Canada. I'm in no great rush so will give them a call.
