Winchester Model 12

Are the model12's good to shoot steel shot through them for duck hunting, or is that hard on the older barrels? Ive heard some varied opinions about it.
Ream the full choke to Light Mod, use #1 shot or smaller and try stick to the lower velocity loads and they are fine. Some guy recommend have the forcing cone lengthened as well.

3macs1...I was wrong...it's the Marlin 120 pump that is rumoured to have carrier issues not the 31. My mind is older than my body! Lol! Those Flite Kings are as close to the 31 a guy can find I think. Nice old shotguns that's for sure. Too bad it wasn't a very long lived design...and I had no idea they made a 28ga version!

hey hey hey I have the marlin 120 with a 40 inch barrel and she still rocks ,lol I also have a sweet m 12 that will never leave the stable .ha ha I would like to find a m12 in 16 to go with my other ,Dutch

Buy them both! :p Lots of the old time duck hunters around here had Model 12's. Most were 12 ga, with odd 16. Can't remember anybody having a 20. I have an original 1914 and an original 1928. I am going to sell the 1928.

I just came upon a Stevens 620A. That is a beast of a shotgun, to say the least. It belonged to an old timer locally and won't be going anywhere until I croak. :)
