Winchester Model 1886..........?

1992 was the short action chambered for pistol cartridges, the 1994 was intermediate chambered for 25-35, 30-30, 32 Special and 38-55. The 1886 was big power, 33WCF up to 50-110 Winchester.
Pedersoli makes a copy they call the 86/71 in 348 Winchester and 45-70.

"No" is correct.

The Win 1886 was originally chambered in .40-82, .45-70, and .45-90
and then later in .33, .38-56, .38-70, .40-65, .40-70, and .50-110 (buffalo cartridge)

That is an absolutely beautiful rifle that John Peterson shows above but whoever put that recoil pad on that rifle and the sling with that buckle to scratch the forend should have his back broken and be squat urinated upon. Also, that packboard is wrong. It looks like a Trager model and it should be a Canadian Trapper Nelson. lol.

Thanks for that, Simon Cowell...

The pack board with attachable pack bag and Pierre Paris caulk boots are a couple of items I added to the photo that along with the rifle, are my timber hunting 'goodies', used up to a few years ago. The detachable sling swivels are made for the rifle as what they attach to are wider than those on present day rifles. The sling isn't original but from articles and photos, it's the closest I have kicking around. The detachable sling swiverl AND recoil pad are. The recoil pad, matching detailed model 71 info I have, some were offered with that Winchester marked extra. There are a number of other options such as bolt mounted peep sights that were also available, on some.

Ah, a gratuitous Winchester Model 1886 thread....

Here's my well worn Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine in .45-70. Still shootable according to my 'smith.

Too bad about the condition & sans saddle ring but she's still rare. Madis says they only made 5K 1886's in SRC configuration.

One day I wish to find a gold mine..............a big large bucket of original saddle ring rings and hand them out to
all the chaps having these missing.
Where in the heck did they all go?

A lot of hunters took a hacksaw to them because they rattled unless wrapped with something, and in doing so did not realize or perhaps care that sometime in the future a collector would wish to have them on the rifle.
