Hey everyone. I picked up a really nice one !
When working the bolt it's different than a Cooey when you pull the back of the bolt to #### it. This one cocks when you close the bolt. Is this normal for a 1904 or is something wrong with it ? Just not use to a single shot 22 cocking when closing the bolt.

The 1904 should not #### when closing, nor have any I have ever owned #### on close. It should be manual just like the Cooey. It's probably just a sear problem, but if it is the bolt they are relatively easy to find.

Though I have heard of people modifying Cooey's to self cocking. I suppose the same could be done to the 1900, 1902, 1904.

Ok Ty ! There's alot of tension on the trigger from the trigger spring. I mean alot so wondering if it's been changed and that's what could be causing it cocking on close ?
 
It certainly sounds as if it has been changed. As far as I remember they were relatively sloppy triggers.

Come to think of it there maybe a screw to tension the spring on the bottom of the action but its been half a decade since I've owned one. There tends to be spring tensioning screws on other Winchester firearm's.

There isn't an screw tension on it so will just try a little weaker spring and see what that does. It really pushed the trigger up hard as it is now !
