Hi folks:

Just a question from a friend that has one of these old rifles that he aquired when his grandfather passed away. He's not really into firearms at all and I want to buy it from him. Rifle is in pretty good shape. Has all the bits and pieces there and the action is crisp and smooth. The metal work has a little wear on it here and there that look like they might be from long hours in a saddle bucket. The woodwork is in great shape with a few minor little nicks and dents here and there. The whole thing is cleaner than clean. No sign or any rust or pits anywhere on it including the bore. The rifling seems to be in good shape. We had a gunsmith check it out and he gives it a clean bill of health, but he didn't want to speculate on a value at all. The rifle comes with a leather case, set of reloading dies and related tools, a sling and a cleaning kit. Any ideas that the whole set up might be worth??

Thanks for your time and expertise. I wish I had a way to post a photo or two.

The rifle alone would be worth $350.-400. They are not that valuable at least yet.
I have a minty one I paid $300 for about 4-5 years ago. The dies should be worth almost $100. & what ever other stuff $$. So I would say $4-500 would be a decent value.

Hope that helps :)
