Just got one of these at a very good price.....free. It's about 50 years old. Cleaned it up, good finish on the metal, wood not so much. 30" full choke barrel with fine looking bore.
Operates OK, but can't say how it shoots......range closed due to dry conditions.
Anyone know anything about these semi-autos? anybody have one?
Thanks
Hugh

They run OK. They were the less finished version of the 1400 for the Canadian market. Issues are loosening of the fore end due to wear and the plastic feed throats in the magazine can fracture. But overall with care and cleaning they are not too bad. IIRC they were marketed throughout the 1970's. Most were purchased by farmers and hunters and put to heavy use. These type of owners rarely put anything on the web and that's why you don't hear much about the 2400. For more info search anything on the 1400 MK II.

I have one... also got it for free! When my uncle got out of duck hunting, he gave it to me. It looks like hell... the finish on the wood did not hold up well under extreme duck hunting conditions. But the bluing held up and there's only minor rust flecks on the receiver. It works fine and rarely jams with high velocity rounds. lots of FTE with low velocity target rounds, though I don't clean it often. Otherwise no issues. I keep it around for sentimental reasons and the occasional duck hunt; don't otherwise use semi-autos.
