I just picked up one of these and didn't realize how old it was. It's basically brand new, even had the box and all of the papers that came with it (including the brown wax paper that would have been wrapped around it). The registration certificate says 1974, which would have been when it was sold but doing a good ol Google search tells me they stopped making these in 1973. No wonder the guy wanted such a pretty penny for it .. and now I've gone and shot it so the value just went down. Oh well, I bought it to shoot not collect so no biggie. Cool little lever.

What registration certificate are you talking about? The Canadian Firearms registration didn't put the year of the gun on it and the registration wasn't around in 1974.

Treat it gently--they are not very robust--prone to breaking the plastic parts and as I recall the extractors are also prone to breakage. Parts are extremely difficult to get.

Otherwise they are fine little rifles.

Perhaps he is referring to the manufactures registration for warranty.

Yes, that's correct, the registration paper from Winchester. Thanks for the comments guys, I'll treat it with the due care it deserves. Also I'll try to get some pictures up this weekend.

Let's see if this link works .. should be a couple of picts.
