Gang,
Wondering if anyone can help identify age and aprox value.
I have a Winchester Model 52 .22 LR. (sorry no pictures).
Serial number appears to be WBS 0663. Which if correct would make it 1921.
Gun has a metal rear buttplate, 5 shot clip with winchester written on the bottom of it. Stock is Checkered on the forend and bottom of rear.
Gun is in immaculate condition, with the excetion of 2 small indents in the rear portion of the stock. Bleuing is 95% +. Only thing not original, gun drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Ive done a ton of surfing looking for more information.
Any info would be great, thanks in advance!

Northern,
I honestly dont knwo what year it is. Not able to find anything on it.. I called Winchester. They advised the date, as they had no reference to WBS only to 0663 portion.

Sounds like one of the later ones. Houze's book shows serial 2004 was dated Jan. 3, 1921

Original Winchester built 52s used only a single serial number letter suffix ("A", "B" "C, D" series rifles). Only the "E" series used that single letter as a prefix.

The "A" series represents the first model with the improved "Speed Lock" striker. This was introduced in 1936. The original "Speed Lock" was introduced in 1929.

The last true Model 52 was built in 1980. When Winchester sold the name and rights to US Repeating arms, it was dropped from the line for quite a long time.

Yes, it's more recent production. About 15-20 years ago more or less. Should say made in Japan, imported to U.S. on right side of barrel unless it has been rebarreled which is not likely. Still a very good 22.
