My very good buddy (left his name out in case he didn't want anyone else to know:D) lent me this old Winchester 69A to 'play' with. So I took it to the range last night and boy oh boy...that rifle made me feel like Superman!!

At 25M, the bullseye was virtually one ragged hole. At 50M, all the bullets were within a small area (about 2 thumbprints) just below the bullseye. I guess the fact that I could hardly see the target at that distance had a part to play in that. But I've never had so much fun at the range before!!

The guy next to me told me I should've used a special 50M target...apparently its to help see better through the diopter sight that the rifle had. Wasn't too sure what he meant, but he probably knew what he was talking about (he had two very expensive-looking biathlon type rifles, these type generally know what its about).

Anyway, just wanted to share the top-of-the-world feeling after shooting that model 69A:D I just purchased a Marlin 60 and hopefully, that thing's gonna be as accurate as the Winchester is...otherwise, gee, looks like I might have to start looking for my own Winchester 69A. :)

I have a 69A Winchester bolt action rifle. When I got it, the bedding was very tight, with some pressure on the left side. It shot only fair, with numerous flyers noted. I took it out of the stock and removed some wood in the heavy contact areas...whoa! what a difference. The rifle is very accurate now, with 50 meter groups running to around the size of a dime with ordinary [but good] ammo. Definitely a keeper. Your Marlin should be fairly accurate, but whether as accurate as the 69A? Only time will tell. Eagleye.

OEM,
Glad you are having so much fun! After all that is the whole idea behind target shooting.

Old Winchestesters can be real accurate and fun. My Winchester 190 semi auto with iron sights can do quarter sized 25 meter groups on a good day.

Your Marlin 60 may or may not be as accurate as the 69A, but it will be satisfying close, specially with a rimfire scope on it.

I have a M69A too and they are the greatest. What's nice is, they #### on open and feed from a clip. Easy to hunt road grouse. The M69 has a tubular magazine and takes too long to load. The M 67 is a great one as well.

That's what I'm poring over the EE for next! Its hard to find though...I mean there are just so many types of scope that it boggles the mind.

Love the good reviews, I bought one almost two years ago, with Lyman sights, and havent found time to shoot it, looking forward to it now.

I have a couple of these 69A's, the more desireable ones are grooved in the receiver to accept rings for a scope, chrome swept back bolt handle. Mine is very accurate and has shot a pile of gophers. They have in recent years increased in value so a nice one may cost you in the $350.00 range. FS

I paid $350.00 for my rather pristine version [grooved received, swept back chrome bolt handle] and I don't feel I paid too much at all. It is a fine looking, fine shooting 22!! Eagleye.

I just ran about 150 rounds thru my 69a today - best 10 shot group at 50 yards - 16x and Winchester Xpert 22 (yeah, can you believe it?)...
