winchester model 70 black shadow 300wsm

Can anyone give me some insight on this rifle? Were they shooters? Ease of loading/unloading shells (I'm told they have no floor plate)?
Also, what about the caliber itself. Useful for most game? Bullet choices for reloading? Ballistics? Mountain hunting?
Any useful information would be appreciated.

I had one in 7WSM (should kept it), very accurate with handloads and has a durable syn stock. The blind mag thing sux but you get used to it. I bedded mine too which aided in accuracy. I paid $400 for mine with 30 rounds thru it. Great rifle IMO.

Here is the link to the M70 Black Shadow. Looks like it was only made in 4 cartridges, and WSM's aren't one of them.

Its possible you are talking about an Ultimate Shadow Blued, Super Shadow Blued or Pro Shadow blued. Confusing ain't it?

Always wanted to play with a rifle in 7mm WSM... that would've been one of my choices.

As for the .300WSM cartridge. I have zero experience with this WSM, only the 270 & 7mm.
But from what I've read it is near identical (ballistically)to the long action big brother but in a shor action. Accuracy was said to be more consistant.
I do know that the .270 WSM is a "prairie death machine"
Maybe others will be able to provide a more accurate review of the 300 from personal experience.

Just picked up my 3rd or 4th wsm a couple months back, (lost track ). This one's a M70 .300wsm and from my limited development so far, looks like it will be another good one.

They've all worked well for me, and a 180gr pill at 3000fps is a good cure for any animal I can find.
