Looks like theyre making the 92, 1895 and 1886 again. Id love to get one of those half mag 86's in 45-70!

It'll be interesting to see if they've figured out how to drill four base holes in a straight line down the middle, this time around...:p

I think they figured a 'jig' was a dance they had no interest in learning.

I was lucky enough to pick up one of the previous production runs a few years ago, in .458 WM.

Opps:redface:. A closer check of what's marked on the floorplate of mine and I see it's 'Super Express'. On the remains of a tag I have that came with it says 'Model 70 XTR Super Express'. Is that the same animal as the 'Safari Express' you've mentioned or something different?

Where did you order it from?

The Super Expresses were very nice, at one time or another had all three 375, 416 and 458. I stupidly ended up letting them all go for one reason or another. I've now got a Safari Express 416 and its not going anywhere. The Safari has a straight comb stock and one pc. bottom metal. It's very smooth and very accurate. You can say what you want about Winchester quality at the end, this one is about perfect. My older Supers were all good too no complaints at all.

Thanks for the info. I never realised there was a difference. When I picked up my 458 WM Super Express, to assist with eye sight that isn't quite as sharp as it used to be and for load testing, I mounted a low power Leupold variable using Weaver pivot mounts. hs4570, a shooting buddy on this site who has passed away a while ago, came out with me for some test shooting. He witnessed the shot target below. Accuracy with this 'Boomer' I posted the picture of earlier isn't too shabby.

I'm pleased.:D

iT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE IF THEY STICK TO THE 3 SCREW MOUNT FOR THE NEW FN/WIN SUPER EXPRESS. i HAVE A NICE SET OF LINX BASES AND RINGS WAITING FOR THEM IF THEY DO! i HAVE A PUSHFEED WIN SUPER-EXPRESS IN 375 AND IT IS JUST THE RIGHT WIEGHT FOR THE CALIBRE, SOME OF THESE MODERN GUNS ARE JUST TO LGHT FOR ENJOYABLE SHOOTING. i AM THINKING OF GETING A 416 REMINGTON OR THE 458 WIN ,IT IS SUCH A HARD DECISION:D hOPE TO HERE A RANGE REPORT WHEN SOMEONE HERE FINNALLY GETS ONE. IF YOU BUY ONE I DON'T THINK YOU WILL EVER LOSE ANY MONEY ON THE DEAL AS I HAVE BEEN OFFERED GOOD MONEY ON MINE, BUT IT IS TO BUEATIFUL TO LET GO AND VERY COMFORTABLE TOO BOOT!! DALE IN T-BAY:)

I am not shouting, it is just that i have nerve damage and paralises in my left hand and it is easier for me to type in capitals, please be leinent to this injured worker, thanks dale in t-bay:(

I just looked at the safari express on the Winchester web site. Were the old rifles equiped with a recoil lug on the barell? I don't know if I'm crazy about the system they are showing. It looks like an extra aluminum lug dovetailed into the barell. What do you guys think?
