winchester model 70 serial number ?

The 28th edition of the Blue Book lists serial numbers up to 1991, I think. This is the only reference I am aware of which goes past 1981. The 29th edition will be out soon, perhaps they may be further updated. If you have a newer Model 70, I MIGHT be able to guess the year of manufacture if you post a serial number in this format (G254###X). I have quite a few Model 70 Classics, and am pretty sure when most of them were manufactured. :D Mine are all stainless Classics, and if yours is some other configuration, I might not be quite as accurate, but what the heck, let's try!
 
I have a reference site that goes from1935 the start of production to 1981 . If you post your serial number with the last three digits as ### , I can look it up. If your gun is newer than 1981 , there may be someone here with another reference site that goes further than 1981. Or you could goto https://store.bluebookinc.com/Info/PDF/Firearms/Serialize.pdf and do it yourself. It is a very good reference site for a large number of different firearms companies and models. For some reason it is hard to hot link to this site. If this url doesn't work , do a search of "SERIALIZATION" and the one with GUNS BY BLUE BOOK INC is the site you want.
