Hello, I'm new to the rifle world and i'm wondering the difference between a new model 70 featherweight and the pre 64 rifle of the same model and what makes the older gun a sought after item?

The older ones had better quality. Each individual firearm pre 64 was worked over by a qualified gunsmith prior to shipping. But this does not take away from the usability of the post 64 models. I own a pre 64 and a post 64 Winchester model 94 and they both shoot equal.
They had a few issues for a couple of years after 64. 66 and on all the problems were corrected. It used to be that to get crf you would have to buy pre64. Some gtime in the 90' s they reintroduced crf.
Pre 64 rifling was done by hand, post they were hammer forged.
Other the the year or two after 64, quality and accuracy is the same pre and post 64
