i have a winchester model 74 .22l ser 162421A the stock is sanded and painted black...its in over all good condition whats the aprox value of it??the reason i ask is cause someone told me i was worth quite a bit i kinda think there full of sh**...thanks

Your friend is right, some of the 74's are worth a fair buck, these are the Gallery guns that shoot 22 shorts only, in mint to very good condition. Your gun is one of the 22 long rifle versions and depending on the quality of the original bluing it may be worth as much as $200.00. Does it have the shell deflector on the receiver? FS

Keep it and shoot it...really not worth taking apart for parts. About the only things good would be the action innards.

there may be varying opinions on the value ( personally $0.00)...but if it is a rough as you state, the only value is what you think it is worth to you.
when i pull the trigger it fires/i usually hit what I'm aiming at/if it gets dented or scratched i don't really care...that's gudda be worth something...as for value to anyone else probably next to nothing...i paid $60 for it 5 years and countless pop cans and partridge ago if someone offered $100 for it i might take it
