Just picked up a used Winchester model 88 in 308, 1 owner gun bought new in 1958. Metal has a few hunting marks a little rust around the front sight.
Looking at the wood, you can tell the rifle was a hunter.
Has a Weatherby Imperial, 2.75 x 90 scope.
Just kind of curious what the estimated value of this rifle is

Jack you may have good value in that Weatherby scope if it is a true imperial model!! What kind of shape is it in? I cannot own a model 88 or I would lose my hunting partner(my Uncle) had one blow up in his face in the 1980's (blow to 12 differrent pieces!!)and lived to tell about it. But I am glad you are enjoying a finely made lever.Dale Z!

Jack; Without seeing accurate photos it's tough to say what it's worth, but on the average the stock is worth $300 to $350 any day of the week, on ebay, if it hasn't been messed with. That's what ones in original condition have been consistently selling for.

The magazine, if it's original Winchester, is worth $75. If your gun is all original, a very good bore with some normal wear from hunting and no rust pits or gouges in the wood, less the scope and rings, it's worth at least $600 to $650. If the stock's been cut and a recoil pad stuck on, then it's worth $450 to $500.

The actual value is what you paid for it . . :)

It's a great scope, couple of minor marks in it but other than that it's mint.
Mounted in Weaver pivot mounts.
Made in Germany stamped in the bottom.

Jack if you want, I'll take the Weatherby scope off your hands, but if I were you I would hold onto it as it a good quality scope, you could recoup half what you payed for the rifle! Great find on both parts, the rifle and the scope!! Jack what is the reference about Nipigon? Did you grow up there as my family did. cheers Dale Z in T-Bay!

I fell in love with the area my first trip through on my way out to a moose hunt in Atikokan. There is a spot where Orient bay comes right down to HWY 11 and I couldn't get it out of my mind. One of the guys I was with just gave me the handle, Nipigon Jack. 20 years after I went on that trip I met a friend of a friend who's dad use to run an outfitting business on the lake and he still has the 50ft boat that we go out on. I now do 2 trips to Nipigon a year, 1st to fish for Speckle trout and 1 for moose.
