winchester model 88 carbine

just picked up a 88 in 308, carbine model with the 19 inch barrel, what are these worth these days? thanks glenn

Our local gunshop now has 4 of them sitting on the rack. Three pre 64's and one post. All in the $400-$425 area. Some of them have been there quite awhile. Bet I could talk them outta one for around $350'ish.

Expressed some interest in one but the guy wanted $750.00 for it so I passed on it.

They are nice rifles, but don't fire milsurp ammo through it.

Shape of the stock on an 88 turns them into a hard kicker, hitting you in the cheek. And the muzzle blast from a 19" barrel is very loud!

In Ontario in the "Deer Belt" (Huntsville, Parry Sound etc) those carbines would be GONE at near twice that price. An average 88 trades at around 500.00 here.

I'd think that $750 was an appropriate price for one in decent shape here in Ontario. We tend to appreciate levers a little more than westerners do.

I have a feeling that the 88s in that rack are likely just 88 rifles and not carbines. I don't think a carbine was offered until the late '60s. For sure the pre 64's are rifles. Unless they have been cut down by a smith. Regardless still a good price.

Yeah, me bad.... the 4 Win 88's I'm talking about in my post above I believe are the rifles.... 22" barrels?......... anyway, if anyone still wants the number, please PM me....
