Winchester Model 94 .30-30 CAMO!

Gobble I'm assuming you used cedar leaves as a spray template in several layers?

I'd love to know more as I have a few rifles I'd like to try this on. :)

I like the painting skills, but cannot applaud your choice of subject. That 94 looks like it was probably in nice shape before you painted it and these guns look great as a blue-steel and walnut mix.

Each their own I guess.

Both the barrel and stock were not in good shape. The stock I sanded down and smoothed out. The lever, hammer and top action I took steel wool to and then re-blued them.

Levers sure do look good 'stock' but I wanted something different. I was really happy with the final product.

How it's Made

Once disassembled, I started out taking steel wool to the barrel and action to remove the rust. I removed all the insides and exterior screws. I HATE PAINTED SCREW HEADS!

I then sanded down the stock and lightly sprayed an exterior textured furniture paint to give the stock a little grip. Here's what I used:

For the barrel and receiver, I covered them with a grey metal primer taping off the sights and the mag loader slot. Once they dried, I did a base coat of olive. The paint was made by Krylon and I picked it along with Brown and Green from Canadian Tire.

The stock was then done to cover the textured paint. Then I put the stock and barrel back together minus the lever and inside mechanism. I just wanted the camo pattern to be carried through the receiver and stock.

As Calum suggested, I used a cedar bow as the stencil. I started off with the Brown and then Green and then did Olive Drab again and just layered the camo.

I did not put a clear coat over the final product because I would like to see how it wears first.

Thanks again for everyones' comments.

Awesome thanx. :)

On mine I'm going to add some spray on satin clear coat.

I have used it on a plastic stock on my wifes SKS after painting with krylon plastic paint, and it seems to have held up quite well over the years.

if you love the paint job, clear coat it after, so it will resist scratch's
from zippers etc.
