Here's a pic of the 20g model 96 I bought from huntinstuff a while back:

The "poor man's 101", it is basically the same gun with no engraving, less fine checkering, a bit broader fore end, and a few other little things.

Still handles much the same as the 20g 101. Beautiful field gun!

side note: found this old delapidated log cabin out in the middle of noplace while out chasing grouse... must have been somebody's dream way back in the day..... kinda spooky.

Very Nice - if you don't mind me asking, how much would one pay for one of those new and used?

Brian

BTW - Be a nice cabin to rebuild. I had two 1800's log barns dissassembled, shipped to my property, and reassembled - they sure look great - add a lot of history. Those logs are still worth some money :)

I think the last ones were made in the 60's, before Winchester sold out.
You would think there's lots of them around, but I had never seen one before this one came along. Depending upon condition, they likely go for anywhere from 500 to 800? (Hopefully Claybuster will weigh in with a correction on the price estimate).

Interesting idea of rebuilding the cabin... the picture doesn't show it, but there are actually two buildings. The one pictured was the main dwelling, complete with the remnants of a stone fireplace at one end. There was another slightly smaller one 40 feet away, as well as a small pen or corral out back.

I think I'll leave them there for now... might be better to buy the land and rebuild them in situ.

Sounds about right to me.
