Looking for some info, value on a spur of the moment purchase I made this weekend.
It's a Winchester model 21 16 gauge with 26 inch barrels and single trigger with brass barrel selector button. Says "skeet" in front of the trigger guard.
It's far from pristine but in good/very good condition and in need of a good cleaning.

Google gives me wildly varying prices for the model 21 and of course most information is based on the US market so if anyone has anything to add I'd love to hear it...

Being 16g decreases the value a bit, so it's worth what someone will pay.Saying that, it might be worth anything from $800.00 to $2000.00....might is the big word there.

I think $800.00 would be on the extremely low end unless it was junk which I gather it is not. Also, to the right buyer 16 gauge will not cause it to loose value as there are those who love and prefer the 16 gauge in a SxS. Somewhere around $3000.00 sounds abought right in this country. It would be higher in the US. However, pics and a detailed description of mechanial condition/issues will be a determining factor.
Edit--checking on guns international I see there are a couple of model 21 skeet guns in 16 gauge with 26" barrels in top condition listed for $8250.00 and $10, 995.00. Of course they are not sold yet so who knows what they will actually go for. With your gun , to get a true value in this country, you would need to have someone who knows Winchester model 21's actually have the gun in hand to look at the mechanics of it and give a fair appraisal.

From what I have read the rarer gauges, 16, 28 are worth more to the collector. Perhaps a 12g is worth more to a hunter.....pic coming

Ugliest American SxS made. But built like tanks and have the most fanatical following. I would buy any shootable Model 21 offered to me at less than $1000. And I don't like them. Check out guns international and gunbroker for US pricing. Canadian on average will be less but not by much. This isn't some esoteric weird maker. This in a freakin' Model 21. You don't even have to say Winchester.

Love 16 gauge sxs'. That looks like a solid gun. There is a 16 gauge society on the web. Check it out if you have not already done so.

Nice gun and pretty much the same as my grandfathers 16ga skeet which maybe in slightly better condition. That one was last appraised for $5500 US over 10 years ago and is still insured for the same. I have had offers to sell it in Canada for as high as $4000 but it will die with me. 16ga actually has a higher resale value especially in skeet since they don't shoot 16ga in skeet any more
I don't shoot it any more and it is greased away as one of my valued collectables. Lets just say those that love the model 21's love them a lot and normally have deep pockets. Gunsaholic I agree with 100%
Cheers

Not sure if Ivor is aware of this but in the collector gun world (and the Model 21, although they typically are shot regularly, fall into this category) the rule of thumb is, when all else is equal, the smaller the gauge, the higher the value. The main reason is the sub gauges (smaller than 12) were made in significantly smaller quantities.

Thats a nice find you got there, I wouldn't sell it, its very rare. you can always make money but finding anther one of those would be tough. Value 4,000-6,000$

Thanks, I'm totally stunned at its possible value, and it was just by chance...a relative mentioned he had an old shotgun to get rid of and when I asked the make he said he thought it was a Browning then he hands me this nice old model 21.

Thanks again gang

It is a skeet grade gun what are the chokes are they full & mod or mod / imp CYL or skeet1& skeet 2 skeet grade guns had higher guilty wood & being a English stock adds to the value and yes a 16ga skeet grade gun is valued higher the a 12ga skeet grade fewer 16ga made . Canadian retail value on your gun $2.800-3.500.00 would have to have a close look at condition because condition is everything . Nice gun

4-6k is very optimist even in the us selling value and listed price is not the same thing at all .

Have to agree in canada for those prices. Mine would be gone in the US for the 5500 appraised value with a few phone calls, same gun here 3500 - 4000 based on what I have been offered in the past. Mine is skeet/skeet

On the underside the barrels are stamped ws-1 and ws -2 along with some other stamps. I assume that is the choke? WS = Winchester skeet ?
