Winchester or marlin?? Lever-action

Parts for Rossi's in Canada are nonexistent. Call any dealer; Parts for the newer Winchesters are the same Even Browning has no parts for Winchesters when they had them.
The old Winchesters you can always pick up something from old donor rifles gunsmiths and folks have.
The new Japchesters are a probably a horror as well.
Marlin or Remlin you can get parts.
So my advice - an OLD Winchester or any Marlin IF you think you may need parts in the future.

The Winchester 1873 by design (toggle link) is not as strong as the 1894 but for cowboy action, 357 is the perfect cartridge, even good for deer within iron sight distance. I have the Winchester/Miroku 1892 deluxe with 24" octagon barrel, and can tell you that the build quality is good. There is another option out there, the Uberti 1873. I just tried shooting one in the club, the owner did some tuning on it and it is really slick.

I would post a WTB Marlin 44 mag.
Get an older JM stamped one.
Winchesters are nice, but the Marlin bug bit.

Had a JM stamp and it was terrible (feed, extract, bolt lockup). I think the QC issues may have started and ended earlier than most folks think, going by friends who've bought new Marlins.

^ What the hell is gonna break on those excellent Japanese Miroku rifles!? Obviously, you've never handled one and have no clue as to their quality.
Use it instead of drooling over it. Took it pretty personal ; got one your afraid to use or is it another over priced safe queen? Enjoy your big money japchester IF you really ever had one or better yet used one

It is surprising just how many people refuse to admit that the Miroku rifles, are made to higher standards than the originals. Having owned an 1892 in 357 myself, as well as original Winchesters, the Miroku is the higher quality rifle.

One thing no one has asked is what do you want to spend? You really can't go wrong with a Marlin 1894, 1895, Winchester 1873, 1892 or even a Uberti 1860, 1866 or 1873. They all have a lot of history with the wild west, cowboys and the frontier.

Where do you live? If in Ontario I would suggest going to Shooters Choice in Waterloo, they will most likely have an example of each model I have listed and you can judge for your self!

A little bit off topic, but try to get Winchester or Marlin or Browning, to make a custom barrel length for thier factory leverguns? 14 or 15inch barrels or something like 30inch barrels that they once upon a time made available for thier customers. Mention shorter barrels (or longer ones too!) for Canadian customers & they find an excuse to end the call.

Those are Miroku Winchesters; I've also got a .270Win but have not hunted with it yet. They are superbly built rifles; excellent Japanese CNC maching & QC.

I live in manitoba. The cabelas here only has the marlin 1894. Not the 1894c(c for cowboy) not sure how much of a difference there is

That's to bad, I would really recommend you find a store that stocks at least a few. They are all good choices and you really needs to hold them to make tour choice. To bad you are not local I would let have a feel for a few of them.
