Winchester repeating rifle

Any ideas on this rifle/model? I believe it's a lever action Winchester. The man is my great grandfather (1853-1927), he was a soldier during the NW Rebellion 1885.

Nailed it. You can see the pivot point of the finger lever and the distinctive swoop into the receiver.

I see you are on Vancouver Island.

Here's a picture from 1899 near the Cowichan River during a bear hunt. Looks like a similar rifle.

^^^Yep. 1899 Savage. It has an internal 5 shot rotating magazine. They're nice guns.
