Winchester SRC with single point sling

Hi all! I'd like to get my 1892 SRC set up with a single point sling. Are any of you using the saddle ring on your rifles as a sling mounting point?

I've seen this setup:





But I'm thinking of something with a less modern look. Any ideas or suggestions?
