Winchester super x issue

Lastnight i was out shooting some swing plates with the old cooey .22 when something happened. I pulled the trigger and i thought i just shot blackpowder but this was in my face. The spot on the rim that got struck by the pin blew out and sent the gases back in my face. I stopped shooting and unloaded the gun to find it undamaged. The bullet only made it 1/2 way down the pipe. With some oil and a rod i got it out.

I am assuming this was a double charge from factory or weak brass. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it even worth contacting winchester about?

Not sure the cause, yes I would email Winchester

Happened to me a few times. The bullet impacted the target though. The 2 times I have seen it happen was with winchester 555
